This work is the story of my experiences in Haiti and of teaching Caribbean history in the United States. It includes reflections on religion, race, politics and culture as well as personal and professional struggles. While addressing some of the major issues that face Haiti, it is more a personal story of balancing the life of a U.S. academic with the emotions that come with meeting people from different cultures and being a mother. Ultimately it is the story of a woman who lives in more than one world.
